It's October. The weather is finally agreeable (or at least making an attempt). And Halloween is in the air (especially at the home-front... my lady friend went shopping for decorations and with the help of "Ole Miss" has the house all sparkly with H-ween decor). Speaking of Mrs. Mondo, she claims that Halloween is her favorite "holiday." I argue with her that Halloween can dignify itself as a "holiday" because whatever day it falls on is not respected as a potential day off from work. She probably knows this is coming, but here goes. To settle this once and for all, see the definition of holiday below:

So. On to my point. Halloween. Costumes. Cool-ER weather. Orange. Black. And the Silk Stocking Historic District's Annual Halloween Party (benefitting SSHD beautification).
It all started back in 2007 with the first annual Halloween bash. And of course last year's party was cancelled after Ike. So here we are on the cusp of the 2nd-3rd Annual SSHD Halloween party.
Here's the gist. On October 17th for $30 per person or $50 per couple, you can eat and drink all you want at a beautifully frightening historic home in Silk Stocking. Costumes are very much recommended, but if you don't have one, cocktail attire is preferred. The party starts at 8 p.m. and ends at midnight. There will be great silent auction items as well. And the best part is that all proceeds go toward beautifying one of Galveston's historic neighborhoods.

Let's re-remeber this converstation.....we said holiday, in loose terms, we (Mrs. Mondo and I) agreed that it is more of an event. You went on to comment that all of these events do not need all of these decorations, which = spending money. Did you just go away for 3 days to celebrate an event?
