It appears that the 2009 county property tax appraisals are out. Yesterday when I opened mine I immediately felt a sense of relief. This is because it dropped around 30% from last year. That means less money out of my pocket. Sweet action!
But then I thought about all the money the city loses because of the drop. Basically 30% less than the previous year.
Does anyone mind if I salt the wound?
I hear ya. We thought the same thing when we got our tax bill. Glad our taxes went down, but the City could use the money.
Well, if it consoles you at all, less that 1/4 of that money goes to the city with GISD and the county getting the bulk of property taxes.
